Mercedes studied political science at Georgia State University in the U.S. and then a master's degree in international relations with a focus on international cooperation and sustainability. After working for several years in think tanks and NGOs in Mexico and the United States, Mercedes decided to move to Spain and start a business in a sector that she was personally very concerned about, fashion, with the aim of contributing to more circular and sustainable models.

She founded ECODICTA in 2018 along with Raul Gonzalez and became a pioneer in Spain by creating a fashion sharing community thanks to its monthly subscription model especialized in daily wear and sustainable brands. As a COO she has been in charge of establishing a system to ensure the maximum circularity of shared clothing items as well as working closely with the team to raise awareness about the neeed for circular consumption models to reduce fashion´s carbon footprint in the environment.

She is currently working on diversifying the business model.
